今日。。。and following questions about tenses

  1. If you always do something, should that be the present* tense (because it’s something you have done repeatedly in the past and it continues into the present and extends to the future), or should it be the past tense because you’ve been doing it repeatedly in the past and the future is this fuzzy thing that hasn’t happened? Or could it be either and you just go with what you feel like at the time? If both are ok, is one a more natural way of speaking in Japanese?
  2. And ditto but with the negative for “I never do x…” - or is the rule different for that because it is negative, like the way that the direct object particle changes for negative (eg たまごたべます。。。オランジたべません。). You could say it couldn’t even be past tense because it has never happened and get into a logic argument like Alice did about not being able to have any more tea because she hasn’t had any yet…but, obviously, she couldn’t have any less tea, so it must be more…
  3. I wasn’t sure how to say that daylight savings robs us of an hour’s sleep and I hate the switching backwards and forwards. I probably severely mangled the language but I know that version is before/earlier (mai vs mae) and tried to do one hour earlier… and I know kirai is a very strong word to use.
  4. I may have mangled how you use kara for causative joining… I wanted to say “because I had time, I went for walks/started walking”.  And then the opposite in the summer. No time and it is hot in the day, so today I got up at 4:30am and went for a walk…
  5. Question 1 & 2 are waaaaay more important for our current level and for midterm oral than issues 3 & 4…

* ya, non-past tense, I know…
