Chibi…
At the pub after fencing tonight, my friend and I were talking about the history of medical science and how they had finally worked out about airborne transmission of disease, and she said that it was guinea pigs. I mean everyone probably knows the saying about “don’t use me as a guinea pig!’, but you don’t often think about the origin of the phrase.
And I looked at her and she said "they had this chibi ward with guinea pigs and they sent the air through there"
And my brain said "well that makes perfect sense - of course it would be a chibi ward with guinea pigs because they're small and cute"
Then my brain rewound a bit and went "Oh... TB, not chibi..."
On the plus side, can confirm it's legitimate to go to the chi sound for the ti hiragana sound... on the downside, learning Japanese appears to have affected my ears and how I hear sounds...
